Match-On-Card
Decrease identity theft and Increase security

What is Match-On-Card?

Match-on-Card is the concept of matching and storing fingerprints on a smart card, from which it is virtually impossible to extract any information.

Match-on-card technology marries biometrics with smart cards, enabling users to not only carry their biometric with them but also match it on the card. This means greater privacy for the cardholder and the ability to authenticate without connection to a backend database.

Match-on-Card offers cardholder verification, which establishes the physical presence of an individual. This facilitates proof of identity and makes the card a truly personal token.

Why MOC (Match-On-Card)?

Match-on-Card eliminated the risk of passwords being lost, stolen or forgotten. It is also highly cost-efficient as it saves money on time consuming password administration.

The fundamental difference between this traditional biometric process and a match-on-card process is all about location. With match on card, the template is locked on the smart card and never leaves. Because match on card locks the data in the chip, lost or stolen cards pose minimal risks. Additionally, the biometric is never stored on a backend database so compromise at this level is also a non-issue.

Match-on-Card is compatible with all smart card types including PIV, CAC and TWIC.

How Match-On-Card works?

1. A request for the card holder's biometric is made
2. The device sends the biometric to the card
3. The card matches the live biometric sent to the biometric stored on the card
4. If the templates match, then data is released from the card.
